The city of Grafton bought vacant buildings along its downtown on Hill Avenue. The buildings were fixed up and auctioned for less than retail prices.

The city of Grafton bought vacant buildings along its downtown on Hill Avenue. The buildings were fixed up and auctioned for less than retail prices.

A former VFW building is being turned into a vehicle repair shop and the old JC Penny building is ready for rental space and apartments.

"We only have one building left in town that the city owns that isn't occupied right now. We are doing some work to that building," said Grafton's Mayor Chris West.

The city has also sold many vacant lots to developers to build homes.
