Grahams Island State Park Open Despite High Water

Most state parks in North Dakota will open on May 20 this year. That will include Grahams Island State Park near Devils Lake.

Park Managers were concerned with the lake level and the elevation of the road. Rip-wrap has been placed along the road after high winds washed debris on it.

Park Manager Henry Duray says the park is taking camping reservations on a day-to-day basis and campers will be forewarned about weather conditions.

"We're going to have to keep really alert to the weather conditions, the current conditions and the conditions for the next 24 hours because wind is going to be the issue," Duray said.

The park's bait shop opened Friday.

People can camp now, however full service won't be available until May 20.
