A teenager is dead following a high-speed chase with authorities in Minnesota.
A Beltrami County Sheriff's deputy stopped a car in Bemidji early Saturday morning.
At about 4:45 a.m., while the driver was being questioned outside the car for DWI, authorities say a 16-year-old male passenger moved behind the wheel and led them on a chase, starting northbound on Bemidji Ave., at speeds of approximately 100 mph.
Another Sheriff's deputy and two Bemidji Police officers began pursuing the teen. The Sheriff's Office says the driver was swerving from lane to lane as he fled.
The teen then lost control of the vehicle just north of Turtle River, which is north of Bemidji, left the roadway and rolled into a patch of trees. The driver was thrown from the vehicle.
The teenager was air-lifted to Fargo where he died of his injuries from the crash.
Bemidji Ambulance Service and the North Memorial Air Care helicopter responded to the scene.
The names of those involved are being withheld by authorities at this time. They could be released Tuesday.
