WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — Mountrail-Williams Electric Cooperative estimates damage in the two-county service area from a late-April blizzard at about $6.6 million.

The co-op says in a statement posted online that officials with the Federal Emergency Management Agency evaluated the storm damage on Monday.

The April 30 storm downed hundreds of power poles and dozens of transmission towers and knocked out power to about 30,000 people. Montana-Dakota Utilities restored power to most of its customers in Williston within days but repairs in rural areas have taken longer.

Mountrail-Williams told the Minot Daily News on Monday afternoon that only a few dozen of its customers remained in the dark.
