COOPERSTOWN, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say four horses have been shot to death on a North Dakota ranch.

Griggs County Chief Deputy Terry Gray told The Forum in a story published Saturday that the incident happened on Thursday about 10 miles southeast of Cooperstown. Gray says each horse was shot in the head.

Gray says the quarter horses were worth between $4,000 and $5,000, not including the value of the offspring of two pregnant mares that were killed.

Investigators say they don't have any "firm suspects" in the case.
