Altru Health System will be announcing affiliation with what it says is a world-class leader in health care.
A news conference announcing the partnership will be held on Thursday starting at noon in the Alerus Center junior ballrooms.
Altru Health System executives will clarify what this means to its patients in northwestern North Dakota and northeastern Minnesota.
An Altru spokesperson tells the Grand Forks Herald that the announcement is "historical" and does not include a merger or a buyout.
The announcement coincides with Altru's annual meeting.
A possible partner could be Rochester-based Mayo Health System. Mayo already has partnership links with local health care providers in 70 communities in Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin, but none in the northern half of Minnesota.
WDAZ will be at the meeting Thursday. Check WDAZ.com for more on this story Thursday.
