BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A Mandan woman faces a child abuse charge after allegedly leaving her 4-month-old daughter at the home of a disabled woman who said she wasn't able to care for the child.

The Bismarck Tribune reports that 23-year-old Thisa Quick Bear was charged Monday with Class C felony abuse or neglect of a child.

Police say Quick Bear left her daughter with the disabled woman in Mandan on Saturday. Police say Quick Bear did not leave formula or diapers for the baby.

Police say the baby was wearing a towel and a grocery sack as a diaper.

The disabled woman did not have any formula in her house and told police she fed the baby sugar water and water mixed with coffee creamer while Quick Bear was gone for a day.
