FBI Investigating Double Murder on Spirit Lake ReservationFather of children detained

ST. MICHAEL, ND - There were more questions than answers on the Spirit Lake Reservation Monday as residents have heard of a possible murder or murders there.
Authorities on the reservation have been very tight-lipped about an incident that occurred last week.
Some people on the reservation are saying the incident involved the murder of two children in St. Michael, ND, south of Devils Lake.
Officials with the FBI and the U.S. States Attorney's office tell WDAZ that they are in fact investigating an "incident," but they will not say exactly what that incident is.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs is also involved, but also is not commenting on the matter. BIA and other organizations say they cannot comment on open criminal investigations.
KZZY radio reported that two deaths had been reported Saturday on the reservation.
Sources say the two children were found at the home of Travis DuBois, 41. DuBois has not been formally charged, but was in the Lake Region jail Monday and police released a mug shot of DuBois as he was wearing what looked to be a bullet-proof vest.
DuBois' wife, Mena Shaw, found the bodies of a girl and a boy under a mattress and it appeared they had been dead for several days, a relative told the Grand Forks Herald.
The children had apparently been killed with a knife or other sharp, bladed weapon, the relative continued.
DuBois was convicted on a simple assault charge in 2007. He also was found guilty of DUI in 2000.
More information is expected soon from the FBI. Stay with WDAZ.com for more on this breaking news story.
