Grafton Woman Dies In House Fire

64-year-old Connie Desautel was found inside her home as it burned in an early morning fire Monday. Police were called to 621 Western Avenue for a fire around 5:40 a.m.

A Grafton woman is dead after her home burned in an early morning fire.

Police were called to 621 Western Avenue for a fire around 5:40 this morning.

64-year-old Connie Desautel was found inside her home.

Nearly 30 firefighters were on the scene for seven and a half hours.

The Grafton Fire Department was assisted by the police department, North Dakota Highway Patrol and Walsh County EMS.

Police say Desautel was the only one home at the time.

"The fire department entered the residence, located the victim 64-year-old Connie Desautel, Walsh county EMS tried to resuscitate her and attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful." Sergeant Anthony Dumas said.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation.

Officers say no foul play is suspected.
