East Grand Forks Fire officials have determined last week's fire at Sherlock Forest Park smoldered over Thursday night and eventually rekindled Friday morning.
Officials say they do not believe last Friday's fire was caused intentionally.
East Grand Forks Police Officials say a witness contacted police and said she observed two juvenile males light a fire in the spot the fire originated the night before.
She said she told the boys to put the fire out and leave the park, assuming the fire was out when she left.
The two juveniles have been interviewed by police and the information given will be forwarded to the Polk County Attorney's Office for review.
There is a possibility that charges may be filed.
Lieutenant Rodney Hajicek of the East Grand Forks Police Department says, "it was a neglectful fire, I don't believe it was arson, I don't think there was intent to damage the park. I believe it was just some kids who didn't use good decision making."
Officials say they were unable to determine a cause because of the extensive fie damage.
Nearly three quarters of the playground was destroyed causing hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages.
