“Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to River Cities Speedway!” Bob Hultgren said as he announced another race in Grand Forks.
“Motor Sports announcing has been part of my life for the last 25 years, going back to the mid-80s and three-wheeler racing, and the last 20 years in Stock Car racing at a number of area tracks,” Hultgren said.
“Naastad down the back side! Sobolik and Strand to the inside! The 71 car making a move!”
“It is sometimes tough to keep up with all the action on the track. I tend to feature on who's leading the race, and if the leader gets a little bit out in front, I try to pick out the race within the race.”
“Well, Blasey holding that lead and the battle seems to be back for third, fourth and fifth place.”
“I try to be fair. I don't belittle the drivers.”
“Your winner, Jordan Duray out of Karlstad with the win.”
“This is a sport I love, and I like to uplift it as I can, so I try to stay on the positive side,” Hultgren said.
“They head wheel-to-wheel, side-by-side down the back straightaway.”
“There's room for more race announcers out there because there are a lot of area tracks that are still running. It's just a fantastic job. I've got the best seat in the house and the best job in the place,” Hultgren said.
“Your winner out of Grand Forks, North Dakota, car number 9, there he is, Steve Anderson!”
Hultgren's full-time job is also behind the mic at KTRF Radio in Thief River Falls.
