GRAND FORKS, N.D. - University of North Dakota head women's hockey coach Brian Idalski announced today the 2011-12 women's hockey schedule, which will feature 32 games, including 16 at home and 16 on the road.
Highlighting the home schedule are seven Western Collegiate Hockey Association series. The Sioux will host Ohio State (Oct. 21-22), Minnesota State (Nov. 18-19), Minnesota (Dec. 2-3) and Minnesota Duluth (Dec. 10-11) in the first half of the season, while entertaining WCHA rivals Wisconsin (Jan. 14-15), St. Cloud State (Jan. 20-21) and Bemidji State (Feb. 3-4) in 2012.
Also set to make trips to the Ralph Engelstad Arena in non-conference action is Vermont (Oct. 15-16) and exhibition games against Manitoba (Sept. 23-24) and Lindenwood (Jan. 4). The Manitoba series opens the season for the Fighting Sioux, who advanced to the WCHA Final Face-Off last season after winning their first playoff series in program history.
UND's road schedule includes opening the regular season against both teams in the 2011 national championship game. The Sioux will head to Frozen Four runner-up Boston Terriers (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) before opening WCHA play at the defending national champion Wisconsin Badgers (Oct. 8-9).
UND went 20-13-3 overall last year and 16-10-2 in the conference.
