A benefit dinner and live and silent auction are set for Friday to help a Crookston woman injured in a fatal accident in February.
23-year-old Jessica Briggs was severely injured in the head-on collision four miles east of Crookston that killed Lawrence Trudeau, 77, of Gentilly, MN, and Tommy Briggs, 19, Jessica's brother.
Briggs has been undergoing treatment at Bethesda Hospital in the Twin Cities since the crash. She arrived there unresponsive and in critical condition after the accident.
The Crookston Times reports that Briggs has had several mini strokes during her recovery and suffered brain trauma and two broken legs as a result of the accident.
The benefit is set for 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 10 at the Crookston National Guard Armory. A dinner will be held and the auction will follow it at 7 p.m. at the America's Best Value Inn.
Monetary donations are also being accepted. They can be sent to the Jessica Briggs Benefit Fund at Crookston National Bank, P.O. Box 619, Crookston, MN, 56716.
