Flag Flown in 1882 Battle Raised Over Myra Museum

In honor of Flag Day and National Flag Week, members of the VFW Post 1874 and Ladies Auxiliary raised a new flag at the Myra Museum Thursday night.

The Grand Forks City Band played the National Anthem as a flag was raised.

The Post 1874 chose to put a flag the Myra Museum because the old flag that used to be atop the pole outside the museum was flown in a battle in 1882.

A tattered and torn flag is considered disrespectful and, as a community service project, the Post replaces them.
