Rain Continuing Wednesday, Possible Thursday

The National Weather Service in Grand Forks says we're in for a rainy next few days, with very slow movement of a low pressure system that will bring a prolonged period of rain with severals rounds possible in some locations.

The National Weather Service in Grand Forks says we're in for a rainy next few days, with very slow movement of a low pressure system that will bring a prolonged period of rain with severals rounds possible in some locations.

NWS says rain will continue to move north from the southern Red River Valley over the course of Tuesday.

Southeastern North Dakota and west central Minnesota could see two to three inches of rain in some places, with locally higher amounts. That has sparked NWS to issue a flood watch for those areas.

Forecast for Grand Forks area:

Late Afternoon: Showers. High near 63. Breezy, with a northeast wind around 23 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tonight: Showers. Low around 56. North northeast wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Wednesday: Showers. High near 60. North wind around 18 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night: Showers likely, mainly before 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 51. North wind between 11 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 67. North northwest wind between 13 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48.
