Red and white light illuminated downtown Devils Lake tonight as the city kicked off its Old Fashioned Christmas festivities. The 18-foot musical tree made of lights, known as Charlie the Cha-Cha Tree, was set up in the intersection of 4th Street and 4th Avenue. Four decorated Christmas trees were also set up on the corners of the streets. Tonight at exactly 7 the Devils Lake fire department lit all five trees. People danced and drank hot chocolate as they watched the tree and listened to kids sing Christmas carols.
Sherry DeMarais: "A lot of the stores are having some specials or deals and hoping that people will come out and celebrate lighting of the trees, but also check out some of the shopping that's available downtown."
"Charlie the Cha-Cha tree" will be featured at area businesses during the Christmas season.
