LAKOTA, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say five members of a family were arrested in an armed standoff in a home south of Lakota that lasted nearly 16 hours.

Nelson County Sheriff Kelly Janke told WDAZ that officers were trying to execute a search warrant about 6:15 p.m. Thursday when three men with rifles ordered them off the property.

Janke says the search warrant was for six cattle that had wandered onto the farmstead.

The sheriff says a father and daughter, Rodney and Abby Brossart, who allegedly resisted arrest were quickly taken into custody but the three sons of the man remained in the home. He tells KZZY radio that Jacob, Thomas and Alex Brossart were arrested about 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Janke says no shots were fired and no one was hurt.

The Grand Forks Police Department SWAT team, bomb squad, and negotiators responded to the scene. Altru Ambulance, Devils Lake, Michigan, and Lakota Ambulance also responded.

"Law enformcement has had extensive concerns with this family over the past few years," Janke said.

Bail for Rodney was set at $10,000 Friday; Abby's was set for $5,000; Alex, Jacob and Thomas' was set for $25,000.
