4 Charged in Connection to Polk County Amish Barn Arson

The Polk County Sheriff's Office says 19-year-old Andrew Mark Dahl, Grand Forks, and three juvenile males from Fertile, MN, have been charged with arson, damage to property and dangerous weapons-drive by shooting.

Authorities have charged four people in connection with a Polk County Amish barn fire that was set June 9.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office says 19-year-old Andrew Mark Dahl, of Grand Forks, and three juvenile males from Fertile, MN, have been charged with arson, damage to property and dangerous weapons-drive by shooting.

The fire at 44955 120th Ave. SE in Fertile destroyed the barn and killed three cattle.

"Maybe it wasn't a good thing, but good things come from bad things. God will make good things come if we let him," William Bontrager, owner of the barn, said.

Bontrager, along with family and friends rebuilt the barn in just about a week, using no power tools except a chainsaw.

Investigation is ongoing and no further information has been released.
