MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Hollywood actor and Minot native Josh Duhamel has been named honorary chairman for the Minot flood recovery fund.
Duhamel spent his first 22 years of his life in Minot, and his sister and her family lost their home to flooding.
He says Minot will always be home to him, and it breaks his heart to see the devastation the city and its residents are going through.
The fund will help Minot the surrounding area in its longterm flood recovery needs.
Minot Area Community Foundation President Ken Kitzman says he's honored that Duhamel is willing to help his boyhood community in a time of dire need.
Duhamel stars in the film "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," which opens Wednesday.
