The victims of a home explosion in Grand Forks County Monday night have been identified.

The Grand Forks Sheriff's Department confirms 6-month-old Samantha Bissell died at the scene eight miles northwest of Larimore.

23-year-old Justin McMahon and 22-year-old Danielle Bissell, who live at the farm, were taken to Altru Hospital with injuries. Danielle is in serious condition there as of Tuesday evening. Justin was initially taken to Altru, but has now been transferred to another hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

When authorities arrived, Justin was under rubble inside the home. Danielle and her daughter, who was thrown from her mother's arms, were found about 100 yards apart.

Investigation continues to find what caused the explosion at 3951 Ave N.E. just east of McCanna, ND. Crews are working to get heavy equipment to the scene to move some of the debris and get to the origin of the blast.

The Sheriff's Department and the North Dakota Fire Marshal are still at the scene.

Sheriff Bob Rost says there is a possibility that the explosion was caused by a propane tank malfunction, but he has not confirmed that. Propane was delivered to the home earlier in the day.

The sound from the explosion could be heard miles away, with one witness saying it sounded like a sonic boom.

Debris from the explosion could be seen strewn across the yard and the home's structure was nearly unrecognizable. Some debris was 40 to 50 yards away from the home.
