WEST FARGO – A West Fargo woman’s shot at “American Idol” glory came to an end Tuesday night during a new “Rush Week” round of eliminations for the popular singing competition’s 13th season.

Andrina Brogden, 19, auditioned last summer in Omaha, Neb. She was among the 15 women who made it through the previously recorded Hollywood Week round that aired last week.

But host Ryan Seacrest explained Tuesday’s episode, the first live episode of the season, would only give 10 of the 15 a chance to sing on the stage – ending the competition for the other five women before they could perform in front of a live audience.

Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban had already selected the 10 contestants who would move on, but left the 15 hopefuls waiting to hear one by one if they would make it to the next round.

Brogden was shown throughout the episode, but her name wasn’t called, meaning her “American Idol” run is over.

Voting to narrow down the 10 female contestants to five finalists opened Tuesday immediately following the episode, and will remain open until noon today local time. A similar “Rush Week” round of singing will air live at 7 tonight, with 15 men vying for 10 spots as selected by the judges before the public votes for the five male finalists.

The first results show of the season will air at 7 p.m. Thursday on Fox, revealing the top 10 finalists as voted by the public. The judges also will reveal three wild card picks Thursday to round out the top 13.
