GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Former University of North Dakota standout hockey forward Jason Gregoire has signed a contract with the National Hockey League's Winnipeg Jets.
The team on Thursday did not disclose details of the deal.
The 22-year-old Gregoire is a Winnipeg native. He decided in May to give up his final year of college eligibility to pursue a pro career. Gregoire had 57 goals and 52 assists in 120 games during his three-year career at UND. His 15 career game-winning goals tie him for fourth on UND's all-time list.
Gregoire originally was drafted by the New York Islanders 76th overall in the 2007 draft. He is the sixth Fighting Sioux to land a professional contract since the end of last season, joining Brett Hextall, Matt Frattin, Chay Genoway, Brad Malone and Brent Davidson.
