Candlelight Memorial Service Draws Many Parents
A service was held in Grand Forks to remember children who passed away during or shortly after child birth.By: Joel Porter, WDAZ
December sixth marks the day when parents remember children they've lost during or shortly after birth.
People from the area payed tribute with a ceremony tonight.
The child bereavement program at Altru Hospital held a candlelight memorial entitled Wings of Hope.
Parents laid a yellow rose for each child on the Angel of Hope near the hospital.
They then walked back inside to hang an ornament on the tree, each bearing a different child's name.
"Parents never forget their little ones. They may not be grieving quite as hard, but they never forget these little ones, so it's a time of remembrance, and it's an opportunity again for them to talk about them," Infant bereavement program coordinator Toni Betting said.
This was the ninth year of the Wings of Hope ceremony.
