Ammonia Leak Prompts Simplot Evacuation
An anhydrous ammonia leak prompted an evacuation of Simplot potato processing plant Wednesday morning.
An anhydrous ammonia leak prompted an evacuation of Simplot potato processing plant Wednesday morning.
The Grand Forks Fire Department was called to Simplot on Gateway drive at about 11:45 a.m.
Authorities say the leak was contained to a compressor room where crews were working on a leaky valve.
The Fire Department had the leak stopped within an hour and a half.
No injuries were reported and workers were allowed back in around 1:45 p.m.
