St. Paul police are investigating a pair of related shootings on the east side that left two people dead and a police officer wounded.
Police say the first shooting happened about 11 p.m. Monday when a man was shot during an argument in the parking lot of an apartment complex. Officers later found him in a vehicle that had crashed several blocks away. He died at Regions Hospital.
Police spokesman Paul Schnell says officers were called back to the scene early Tuesday on a report that some of the participants in the original fight had returned. Police saw three suspects leaving an apartment.
Schnell says one of the suspects opened fire, and one officer suffered a non-life-threatening wound in the leg. He says police returned fire, killing the suspect.
