Sherlock Forest Park Demolition Set For Thursday

Demolition will begin Thursday on the fire-damaged Sherlock Forest Park in East Grand Forks.

Demolition will begin Thursday on the fire-damaged Sherlock Forest Park in East Grand Forks.

Demolition will begin at 8:30 a.m.

The popular playground, built using donations eight years ago, burned down in late May.

After losing it, the city wants to start construction on a new one as soon as possible.

Estimates show the park is a 70 percent loss. The appraisal is $373,000. Although just preliminary, if the city gets as many volunteers as coordinator Panne Pape did in 2003, this amount should cover the cost.
