Lightning has been determined to be the cause of a house fire in Grafton early Wednesday morning.

The fire started at 727 Burgamott Ave. S. at around 5:25 a.m.

Fire chief Ken Popiel said the fire was reported by a neighbor, who called the residents and told them to get out of the house. No on was injured.

The Grafton Fire Department, Grafton Police Department and Valley Ambulance all responded.

It took 15 firefighters about an hour and a half to put out the fire in the attic of the home.

"It was hard to get to because obviously it's in the attic and the roof is covering the attic and the ceiling inside is covering the attic. It's hard to get to and it was a really warm morning," Popiel said.

Firefighters say there was extensive damage, but they don't have estimates yet.
