WILLMAR, Minn. (AP) — Authorities say a father has died while trying to rescue his young son who had fallen off a pontoon boat on a Kandiyohi County lake.
Sheriff's officials say the 45-year-old man drowned in Bass Lake while trying to save his 6-year-old son. The boy made it safely to shore, but his father disappeared under water.
KARE-TV reports (http://bit.ly/r3OkqS ) deputies say neither of them were wearing life jackets.
