DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota man accused of killing his parents in Oklahoma is fighting his transfer to an Oklahoma court.
Fifty-year-old Kevin Statham on Friday refused to waive extradition to Oklahoma, where he faces two first-degree murder charges. A judge says a hearing on the matter will be scheduled within the next two weeks.
Statham is being held without bond at a Devils Lake jail.
Authorities believe Statham shot and killed 70-year-old Paul Statham and 69-year-old Helen Statham at their home in Bokoshe, Okla., on July 4. The suspect was arrested in Lakota on July 7.
KZZY radio reports that Statham had been living and working in Lakota since the spring.
