Bison men hold off Dickinson St.

FARGO, N.D.--North Dakota State made 11 of its last 13 free throws to hold off Dickinson State for a 90-83 victory in men's college basketball Wednesday, Dec. 9, before a crowd of 1,056 at the Bison Sports Arena.
North Dakota State (4-4) led by as many as nine points in the second half, but the Bison went without a field goal in the final 4 minutes, 12 seconds.
Michael Tveidt scored a game-high 21 points for NDSU, Josh Vaughan scored 20 and Eric Carlson had 19 points. Vaughan made four straight foul shots in the final 20 seconds to seal the win.
Josh Henry and Nathan Lebsock scored 21 points apiece for NAIA member Dickinson State. Henry had a game-high eight rebounds for the Blue Hawks (3-7).
North Dakota State led by as many as 11 points in the first half after a 14-0 run. But Dickinson State pulled within one on a 14-4 run of its own.
NDSU led 39-37 at halftime.
The Bison shot 56 percent on their home floor after shooting 32 percent in consecutive home losses to Idaho and Wisconsin-Green Bay. Dickinson State shot 51 percent.
NDSU had a 37-27 rebounding advantage. Carlson and Dejuan Flowers had eight rebounds apiece.
North Dakota State is scheduled to host Wisconsin-Milwaukee at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12. The Panthers are 6-4 after a 20-point loss at Marquette on Tuesday night.
