A Grand Forks man is pleading not guilty to charges of felony aggravated assault after he was accused of smashing another man's face into a pool table at a downtown bar this spring.

25-year-old Tony Jesus Cooper allegedly attacked 29-year-old Jason Hunter at Joe Black's in March.

Hunter had to have surgery and miss a month of work to recover because nearly every bone in his face, except for his lower jaw, was broken.

If convicted, Cooper could face up to five years in prison.
