DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — Dickinson State University President Richard McCallum says he won't resign.

The chancellor of North Dakota's university system says McCallum has been given a termination notice for allegedly inflating the university's enrollment numbers.

William Goetz says he told McCallum he could resign or be fired.

McCallum said Saturday he's proud of the school's accomplishments since he became president in 2008.

He says the enrollment reporting errors were corrected and didn't hurt the university.

McCallum says he's hired a lawyer. He can demand a hearing to defend himself. He is supposed to give Dickinson State's "state of the university" speech Aug. 17.

An audit says about 180 people who attended training sessions at Dickinson State last fall were counted as students. They were given course credit and "A' grades without their knowledge.
