Sanford Health in Thief River Falls rolled out it's plans for a $60 million hospital and clinic. The 25-bed faciltiy will replace the current hopital built nearly 80 years ago.
The facility will be built on Highway 32 on the south side of town.
The existing clinic on Highway 59, across town, will move with the new hospital, but some services will remain at the Highway 59 location.
The $60 million price tag includes several projects.
"That includes taking this building down, some remodeling at 59. There is a lot of ground work that has to be done with our site. One of the them is equipment," Sanford Thief River Falls executive director Chris Harff said.
Harff says they will continue to use the clinic building for such services as mental health, dialysis, and a fitness center. The hospital located downtown is for sale, but there are no buyers yet. The aging building has issues with the heating, plumbing and cooling.
Harff say the new building will free them of those problems, and make at trip to the hospital or clinic less taxing for everyone.
