FARGO - Zach Riopelle has been a starter on the Warren High School football team since the Bush Administration. Year No. 5, his senior year, will be this fall when the Minnesota Class A team begins practice.

About a year from now, he’ll wear a different uniform, finally. Riopelle verbally committed to North Dakota State this week, the second area recruit to do so. Kindred offensive lineman Jack Plankers committed earlier this summer.

Riopelle is a 6-foot-2, 215-pound two-way player who will most likely sign as a linebacker for the 2012 Bison class. Tony Gullikson, his high school coach, said Riopelle runs a 11.0-second 100 meters who “makes plays from sideline to sideline.”

Riopelle narrowed his college list to NDSU, University of North Dakota and Bemidji State (Minn.).
