Steve Bodakowski

Steve joined the WDAZ News team in October of 2007. He grew up in Connecticut where he attended Southern Connecticut State University.

He graduated in December 2006 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. Before coming to WDAZ Steve worked as an intern at WTNH and FOX-61 News in Connecticut. Steve spent a year reporting from the Devils Lake Bureau, He now covers UND and Higher Education here in Grand Forks.

In his spare time he enjoys lifting weights, playing basketball and cooking.

Nickname Supporters Have Signed Petition In Ft. Yates

Nickname supporters on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation say they have a petition ready, and they will present it to the tribal council asking for a reservation wide vote to gauge tribal approval on the future of the name and logo.

New State Vehicle Rules Could Be a Problem For UND Student Groups

Changes in the oversight of state fleet vehicles at UND has led to a new policy in requesting one. It will mean a stricter policy on when a state vehicle is allowed to be used. Now UND's student government members are worried that it will make it harder for them to go to important events.

Lakota Ambulance Service Asking For Help

The Lakota Ambulance crew is asking for a little help from Nelson County residents. A petition is asking for a Mill Levy to be implemented for the service during a June election. A move that would make them eligible for government grants.

New Flood Forecast Looks a Little Better

The National Weather Service released a new flood outlook for this spring and the news in encouraging. There was little to no change in the new outlook for most of the region. The chances of flooding have even dropped for some locations with the exception of Devils Lake.
