Bruce Olson, Area Hockey Coach, Dies at 55

(WDAZ-TV) - One of the area's most successful hockey coaches has lost his battle with Cancer.
Bruce Olson, the former boys coach at Minot, Roseau and Warroad high schools and former women's coach at UND and Bemidji State, died early Wednesday in Rochester, MN. He was 55.
Olson was in Rochester for the past two weeks being treated for pancreatic and colon cancer.
Olson played prep hockey at Roseau and college hockey at Duluth. He briefly coached the Sioux women's club team shortly before the program went to varsity status.
Olson's coaching career began at Minot High School. He later coached at Roseau for ten seasons, winning a Minnesota class AA title in 1999.
Olson is survived by his wife, son, two daughters and four grandchildren.
