ND Deer Harvest Up From Last Year
Hunters harvested about 34,500 deer during last year's gun season in North Dakota. The state Game and Fish Department says hunter success was 63 percent, up from an all-time low of 51 percent in 2011. However, it was still below the long-term average of 70 percent.

A Minnesota man died of an apparent heart attack while hunting. Members of a hunting party found 66-year-old William Spielmann of Maple Lake having a heart attack in a deer stand in Taylor Township of Beltrami County just before 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Sheriff's deputies called to the scene found him dead a short time later.
