The FEMA funds will help repair roads and other infrastructure damaged by spring runoff. If all goes smoothly, local cities and counties could start to see federal relief funds in about a month.

A Devils Lake veteran is now the head of the state's VFW chapter. Emery Fisher served as the vice commander before being elected the state commander for North Dakota at the beginning of the month. He will serve a one year term.
