The extra water flowing into the Lake Region from last weekend's storm is putting a halt to what's already been a late planting season for area farmers. Mother Nature will force farmers to stay out of the fields for days, with fewer than ten percent of crops planted already.

The recent rain has dumped more than three of inches of water on the Lake Region. The extra water means the region will have to wait longer for the two Devils Lake outlets to turn on and bring much needed flood relief.

The Creel Bay Golf Course in Devils Lake went through a redesign after the city embankment destroyed four holes in 2011. Golfers are only able to tee up on half of the course. But the new holes are expected to be ready this summer.
