Students could soon be facing more financial pressure as student loan rates are set to double next month. At a roundtable discussion today Senator Heidi Heitkamp said she'd like to see an overhaul of finances within the University System. But as the deadline nears, she doesn't see that as an option right now.

A former UND football player was arrested early Sunday and cited for failing to halt for a police officer. He bailed out of the Grand Forks County jail later Sunday on the misdemeanor charge.

Demolition prep beings at old Ralph Engelstad Arena
It's out with the old, in with the new for UND. Prep work has begun to demolish the former Ralph Englestad Arena. Once the building is torn down by the end of summer, a 20 million dollar indoor practice facility will take its place.

Colleagues at a Minneapolis law firm say their thoughts and prayers are with the family of Nancy Sullivan. She was shot and killed in Shoreview as she was moving out of a house she shared with her boyfriend, identified by neighbors as John Simpson.

The state Board of Higher Education is buying out the contract of University System Chancellor Hamid Shirvani. The board voted Monday to release Shirvani from his three-year deal, which he signed more than a year ago. Terms of the buyout were not announced.
