Award-winning author and Wahpeton native Louise Erdrich was today named the 39th recipient of the North Dakota Theodore Roosevelt Rough Rider Award, the state’s highest commendation. Gov. Jack Dalrymple will officially present Erdrich with the award April 19 in Wahpeton.

While President Obama pushes again today for gun control, the North Dakota senate took up numerous bills today looking at expanding gun rights in the state. The Senate voted on four bills all dealing with concealed guns and where they could be allowed. Two of the places involved our schools and churches.

Two Valley Middle School teachers have been chosen for Learn Zillion's Dream Team to create math lessons to be used nationwide. More than 3,000 applications were received from around the country but only 200 teachers were chosen. Shana Lindeman and Lisa Vojacek will travel to California in May for training.
