The late arrival of spring is making it a challenge for the forestry department to do its annual tree removal. This time each year trees that are in poor condition are removed from berms or boulevards. The snow and cold can make that job tougher.

At about 1:45 Tuesday afternoon 46-year-old Keith Melius was forced to land hi single-engine airplane in a snow-covered field. The incident occurred about 1/2 mile west of the intersection of Highway 281 and Highway 46, approximately 17 miles south of Jamestown, ND.
