A Grand Forks apartment building could be constructed in an “unusual” spot if the city gives the project a green light. Developers have brought forward a plan for an apartment building to be constructed at 2750 and 2900 DeMers Avenue — just west of the Columbia Road overpass.
They’re circular, involve only right turns and when mentioned strike fear into the heart of motorists unfamiliar with them. Studies say they reduce the severity of accidents, improve traffic flow and are safer for pedestrians. They’re roundabouts and they’re coming to Grand Forks.
A 58-year-old construction worker from Clear Lake, Minnesota, died while on the job this morning. The accident happened at a road construction site just off I-29 near Manvel. Highway Patrol officers say the yet unnamed man was operating a concrete grinder just before he was killed around 8:00 this morning.
