Patients will benefit from improved treatment for cancer and other conditions with the use of new high-tech equipment that more precisely targets cancerous tumors, according to Dr. Grant R. Seeger, radiation oncologist at the Altru Cancer Center in Grand Forks.
There's a strong mix of reactions since we first reported Altru Hospital's low safety grade from a national survey. Altru's letter grade is a "D". The Leapfrog Group issued the report, ranking Altru in the bottom 10 percent of 2,500 hospitals studied.
On an A-F grading scale, Altru Hospital gets a D in patient safety, according to a national survey. The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit that focuses on health care transparency, led the survey of more than 2,500 hospitals. The hospital scored high in the number of patient falls and inpatient deaths.
Patients who've received injections to relieve back pain at Altru Health System are not at any risk of getting meningitis from steroids used in the injections, said Dr. Eric Lunn, chief medical executive at Altru Heath System in Grand Forks.
A new University of North Dakota Athletics Complex is a step closer to becoming a reality in Grand Forks. Altru Health System has pledged ten million dollars in support of a sports medicine partnership with the University.
