Junior distance runner Lindsay Anderson has been named the University of North Dakota's 2010-11 Grace Rhonemus Female Athlete of the Year, and senior hockey player Matt Frattin has been named UND's Glenn "Red" Jarrett Male Athlete of the Year.
UND senior forward Matt Frattin signed a contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and is scheduled to make his NHL debut on Saturday against Montreal, a game that will be broadcast live from Toronto on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada.
Frattin began counseling, cut back on partying and vowed to stop squandering his talent. Drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2007, Frattin could have turned pro. But he wanted to rejoin his friends and help the Fighting Sioux win a national championship.
