A branch of the North Dakota National Guard is preparing for the prestigious mission of guarding our nation's capitol. More than 150 soldiers are busy training at Camp Grafton for a year-long mission in Washington D-C that will begin this summer.
A North Dakota National Guard soldier killed in Afghanistan was laid to rest today. Services for 41-year-old Sgt. 1st Class Darren Linde of Devils Lake were this afternoon in Sidney, Mont., where he grew up.

The military and civilian communities alike are rocked by the deaths of two North Dakota National Guardsmen while on duty in Afghanistan. Sargeant Linde and Sepcialist Orgaard are being praised for their service by state political and military leaders. The state legislature also held a moment of silence for the fallen soldiers today in Bismarck.
