Today in Grand Forks there's an effort to help the growing number of homeless people and it's all under one roof. The 4th Annual Project Connect brought together more than 30 local service providers and agencies to help those in need.
North Dakota is seeing a boom in the number of homeless and poor people in the state. Many came looking for work in the oil patch but weren't able to find jobs before running out of money for rent. The number of unsheltered homeless people has exceeded the number of sheltered individuals in North Dakota.
Local service providers and agencies are teaming up to help those who are homeless or are in danger of becoming homeless. Project Connect is a one day one-stop shop for people who need financial, medical and job assistance in the Grand Forks area.
