Thompson and Mayport-CG were both victorious Monday evening in the North Dakota Class B Region 2 girls basketball tournament. The Tommies and Patriots will now do battle with a trip to the region championship on the line. Tip-off is scheduled for 25 minutes after the Grafton and Hillsboro-Central Valley game is concluded.

East Grand Forks beat Rochester Lourdes 3-2 in the Minnesota Class A boys hockey tournament quarterfinals Wednesday in St. Paul. Kolton Aubol scored two first-period goals, while Tommy Hajicek added a goal and two assists. The Green Wave led 3-0 entering the third period, but Lourdes scored twice to pull within one. EGF advances to Friday's semifinals against defending state champion St. Thomas Academy.
Thief River Falls, seeded third in the north, beat second-seed East Grand Forks 73-66 Wednesday night in the Minnesota Section 8AAA quarterfinals in East Grand Forks. The Prowlers advance to the semifinals against Sartell, Saturday in Moorhead.
