BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Wildlife agents were trying to capture a grizzly bear in Yellowstone National Park after it killed a Michigan hiker in the second fatal bear attack this summer in the famed park, authorities said Monday.
Yellowstone National Park authorities will not try to capture a female grizzly that killed a backcountry hiker because it was trying to defend its cubs when it was surprised by the man, a spokesman said Thursday.
Yellowstone National Park officials say a grizzly bear has killed a hiker in the park's backcountry — the first fatal bear mauling in the park since 1986.
