The extra water flowing into the Lake Region from last weekend's storm is putting a halt to what's already been a late planting season for area farmers. Mother Nature will force farmers to stay out of the fields for days, with fewer than ten percent of crops planted already.
We begin with breaking news. The Grand Forks Air Base has been passed over for a new tanker mission. Wichita's McConnell Air Base has been selected to be the main operating base for the new air refueling tanker.
One of the hardest hit towns in northeastern North Dakota is the small town of Crystal, which is just north of Grafton. Residents are struggling to keep water out of their basements and some businesses are surrounded by water.
The recent rain has dumped more than three of inches of water on the Lake Region. The extra water means the region will have to wait longer for the two Devils Lake outlets to turn on and bring much needed flood relief.
